Qualifications and Training
I qualified with my level 4 Diploma in Integrative Counselling in 2016 and have worked with a wide range of people and presenting conditions/issues. Since then I have undertaken plenty of training (continued professional development) subjects including: gestalt, internal family systems, working with eating disorders, working with self-harm, attachment styles in adults, anger, shame, working with sight impaired, self-care, and trauma-informed therapy.
BACP
I am registered with the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) which means that I am recognised by this professional body as being a competent and professional counsellor. I abide by their ethical framework and code of practice. As a member of the association, I am covered by their complaints and investigation procedure. I aim to work safely and ethically at all times, and ensure I review the codes of practice on an annual basis.
Supervision
I have 90 minutes of supervision every month with a more experienced professional counsellor. I share my casework (never your personal details) and they check that I’m working safely and give me a space to look at things from different angles.
Peer Supervision
I also meet with other counsellors on a regular basis for peer supervision. We discuss our casework and seek advice and ideas from each other. You cannot be identified through this – your privacy is extremely important.
Safety
If we meet in my home you are a few steps away from the main door in the unlikely event of fire or emergency.
Confidentiality
I keep your case notes anonymised by using a reference code. My laptop is password protected and kept up to date with antivirus and anti malware software. Case notes will be stored securely for 7 years and then destroyed.
Continuity
Should I die or become incapacitated you will be contacted by a trusted counsellor colleague. They will have a set procedure to follow to manage the files and notes. They will support you and help you to find another suitable therapist if that is appropriate for you.
